Karl Stefanovic is roasted for 'crying on a yacht with a tan in the Med' after losing his media jobs in interview with Piers Morgan: 'Is this a joke?'

Karl Stefanovic has been roasted online 'for crying on a yacht with a tan in the Med' following his chat with British journalist , in the wake of his departure from the Today show.

The 51-year-old broke down in tears on Wednesday's episode of his podcast, The Karl Stefanovic Show, as he commiserated with Morgan about his exit from Channel Nine after two decades at the network. 

The interview took place aboard the 56-metre Italian superyacht Taiba, a floating palace complete with a swimming pool and cinema that costs approximately $500,000 a week to charter, plus expenses. 

Sitting aboard the luxury yacht in , Morgan asked how Stefanovic was coping with the fallout from his high-profile departure from Today, which came following backlash over an interview with British far-right activist . 

Stefanovic struggled to speak and fought tears as he discussed the impact events were having on his family.

However, viewers were not impressed by Stefanovic's emotional display, with many sniping that his claim to be struggling was undermined by the fact that he was relaxing on a luxury yacht that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars to rent out.

'Devastating... But thankfully he's making himself feel better by sailing around Europe,' one person sniped. 

'Stop your crying Stefanovic, it's called "choices". You are already an incredibly wealthy man and have chosen making mega bucks over being with your family. Own it,' a second added.

'It's okay Karl, I'm sure you will be able to survive on the millions of dollars you have,' a third chimed in.

'You know exactly what you are doing Karlos, stop the crocodile tears,' someone else wrote.

In the interview with Morgan, the former TV presenter spoke about the impact recent events were having on his wife Jasmine.

'She puts up with a lot. Her finding out this stuff and having to deal with me, because I'm a lot,' he said.

'I really do work hard and I'm away a bit, and she knows what I'm trying to do with this podcast. So I'm doing this, and some radio, I'm doing it for the family, but she's on her own a lot.
