Rising star Bailey Zimmerman, 26, has broken his silence over pending criminal charges as an insider has told Daily Mail that a private emotional collapse unfolded in the days leading up to the incident.
The Backup Plan hitmaker, who has collaborated with and BigXthaPlug, seemed slated to be country's next big thing.

However, he faced criminal charges for extensive damage done to a hotel room during his recent tour, including a fourth-degree felony for criminal damage to property over $1,000 and a misdemeanor for falsely obtaining services. These were later dropped after Zimmerman paid full restitution to the hotel.
The Illinois-born country singer has been in a fragile state behind the scenes as he grapples with the perils of fame, which all came to a head while he was performing at Sandia Resort & Casino.
An insider told the Daily Mail that the escalated rapidly and was triggered by 'heartbreak’ after splitting from his girlfriend.

An arrest warrant obtained by the Daily Mail was issued on June 18 with no bond hold, and four days later Zimmerman filed a demand for a speedy trial.
Law enforcement said Zimmerman stumbled and fell at his sound check, during which he is also accused of hurling cymbals, flinging the microphones to the floor and tipping over part of the drum set.

He is said to have repeatedly stormed offstage and then exited the sound check altogether, in the version of events laid out by the affidavit before the destruction took place.

An insider told Daily Mail: ‘He didn’t eat and had a ton of tequila and was going through heartbreak.' While he does not currently have a girlfriend, he briefly dated influencer Jordy Dix.
‘He didn’t have a drinking problem and doesn’t have a problem when drinking,’ the source insisted.

According to the same insider, Zimmerman had been dealing with personal upheaval along with a relentless touring schedule.
‘He was going through a mental breakdown,’ the source said. ‘A s***y situation happened and he didn’t handle it the way he should have, but he’s a human being.’
They went on to suggest that the singer’s rapid ascent in country music left him unprepared for the pressures that typically come with years of gradual industry experience.
‘Bailey got thrown into this whole thing and is still learning,’ the insider said. ‘Where most guys have years in bars and paying dues and messing up privately, his first big tour was opening for Morgan Wallen.'

This is not Zimmerman's first public apology, despite being early on in his career. In January 2025, he apologized to fans after performing while intoxicated at the Crash My Playa music festival in Riviera Maya.
He was brutally mocked for singing off-key and knocking over the mic stand in viral videos.
